Qualifications
To be considered, applicants must meet all local and state requirements, including:
- A valid North Carolina Speech-Language Pathology License
- A Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- Completion of the Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY), if applicable
- Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA (preferred but not required for CF candidates)
- Ability to obtain or hold a North Carolina DPI Licensure for School-Based SLPs
- Familiarity with IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) compliance standards
- Previous school-based or pediatric experience is preferred but not required
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate students to identify speech and language disorders through standardized and informal assessments
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs
- Provide direct speech and language therapy services to students in individual or group settings
- Monitor student progress, document performance, and adjust interventions as needed
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and multidisciplinary teams to support student success
- Participate in IEP meetings and provide expert recommendations regarding student communication needs
- Maintain compliance with state, local, and federal regulations and documentation requirements
