Position Requirements
Applicants must meet the following qualifications to apply:
- Masters degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
- Maryland Occupational Therapist license (or eligibility to obtain).
- Strong knowledge of state and federal special education laws and best practices in occupational therapy.
- Ability to pass state and district background checks.
- Previous experience working with children or in a school setting is preferred but not required.
Key Responsibilities
As an Occupational Therapist in this role, you will be responsible for:
- Conducting assessments to evaluate students' needs related to physical, sensory, and motor skill development.
- Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans based on assessment results.
- Providing direct therapy services to students in the classroom or individual settings.
- Collaborating with teachers, administrators, and parents to support students functional goals and progress.
- Assisting students in developing or improving fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-care, and adaptive skills.
- Participating in IEP meetings and collaborating on strategies to enhance students' educational experience.
- Offering training and consultation to staff on implementing classroom accommodations and modifications.
- Documenting student progress and making necessary adjustments to therapy plans.
