Blazer Jobs is actively seeking an experienced Physical Therapist for a full-time, school-based contract position in Nottoway, VA. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated PT to make a meaningful impact on students' physical development and overall well-being. We are looking for a qualified Physical Therapist with experience in the school setting, particularly working with special education students and families. This is a contract position, with the possibility of renewal based on performance.
Job Description: As a Physical Therapist (PT) in this school-based role, you will be responsible for providing therapy to students, assessing their physical needs, and developing individualized treatment plans to improve mobility, strength, coordination, and overall physical function. You will work closely with teachers, parents, and other school staff to ensure that students' physical therapy needs are addressed and integrated into their educational programs.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in a school setting and be comfortable collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support students, particularly those with special education needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess students' physical needs through evaluations, including mobility, strength, balance, and coordination.
- Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each students needs, based on IEP goals.
- Provide direct physical therapy services to students, including exercises and activities designed to improve motor skills, balance, coordination, and strength.
- Collaborate with school staff, including teachers and special education teams, to integrate physical therapy goals into students' daily routines and classroom activities.
- Monitor student progress and adjust therapy plans as necessary to meet evolving needs.
- Document therapy sessions, student progress, and any changes to treatment plans, ensuring compliance with state and district regulations.
- Participate in IEP meetings and team discussions to ensure that physical therapy services are aligned with educational goals.
- Provide training and support to school staff and families, educating them on how to support students' physical needs and encouraging the use of therapeutic exercises in everyday settings.
- Ensure that all treatments and interventions comply with state and local regulations for school-based physical therapy.
Qualifications:
- Active Physical Therapist (PT) license in the state of Virginia.
- Experience working with children, particularly those with special education needs, is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of school-based therapy practices, IEP development, and the legal and regulatory requirements of providing physical therapy in schools.
- Ability to develop and implement individualized therapy programs for students with diverse needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, parents, teachers, and school staff.
- Must meet all local and state regulations for providing physical therapy services in a school setting.
