Key Responsibilities:
As a Speech Language Pathologist, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Conducting assessments and evaluations of students' speech, language, and communication abilities.
- Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) based on assessment results.
- Providing direct therapy services to students in accordance with IEP goals.
- Collaborating with teachers, parents, and other school staff to support students' communication needs.
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation of services provided.
- Participating in IEP meetings, providing expertise on speech and language development.
- Monitoring and reporting on students' progress, adjusting therapy approaches as needed.
Qualifications:
Applicants must meet all local and state requirements to be considered for this position. These typically include:
- Licensure: A valid New Jersey Speech-Language Specialist certification or eligibility to obtain one.
- Education: A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Experience: Previous experience working in a school setting is preferred.
- Certification: Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) is highly desirable.
- Background Check: Successful completion of a criminal background check and fingerprinting as required by New Jersey state law.
- Other Requirements: Compliance with any additional district-specific qualifications or certifications.
