Full-Time Speech Language Pathologist Assistant Position in Statesville, NC
Blazer Jobs is actively seeking a dedicated and experienced Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) for a full-time role with school districts in the Statesville, NC area. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to students' speech and language development in a supportive educational setting.
Position Overview:
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with Speech and Language Therapy: Support licensed Speech Language Pathologists in implementing speech and language therapy programs for students with communication disorders.
- Conduct Therapy Sessions: Carry out therapy sessions as directed by the supervising Speech Language Pathologist, focusing on developing and improving students' speech and language skills.
- Monitor Student Progress: Track and document students' progress, reporting any changes or concerns to the supervising Speech Language Pathologist.
- Prepare Therapy Materials: Develop and organize materials and activities for therapy sessions based on the needs outlined in students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Collaborate with School Staff: Work closely with teachers, parents, and other school staff to integrate therapy goals into the classroom setting and support students' overall development.
- Provide Feedback: Offer insights and observations about student performance and behavior during therapy sessions to assist in adjusting therapy strategies.
Qualifications:
- State and Local Requirements: Applicants must meet all North Carolina state and local requirements, including:
- North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists certification
- An Associates or Bachelors degree in Speech-Language Pathology or a related field
- Completion of supervised fieldwork or clinical practicum as required
- Certification or licensure as required by the state of North Carolina
- Previous experience working with children in a school or clinical setting is preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills
