Blazer Jobs is actively seeking a skilled and experienced Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) for a full-time, school-based role in Columbus, GA. This position offers an excellent opportunity for professionals with a background in special education who are passionate about helping students improve their speech and language skills. As an SLPA, you will provide essential support under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in a dynamic school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Therapy Implementation: Execute speech and language therapy sessions as outlined in individualized treatment plans developed by the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP).
- Direct Therapy: Deliver individual and group therapy to students, focusing on areas such as articulation, fluency, language comprehension, and expressive language skills.
- Progress Monitoring: Track and document student progress meticulously, collect data on therapy outcomes, and assist in modifying treatment plans based on this data.
- Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, parents, and other educational professionals to integrate speech and language goals into the classroom and support students overall educational development.
- Assessment Support: Assist the SLP with conducting assessments and evaluations to identify and address students' speech and language needs.
- Classroom Integration: Support students in applying their speech and language skills in the classroom and other school settings to enhance their learning and social interactions.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of therapy sessions, progress reports, and other necessary documentation to ensure compliance and track student progress effectively.
Qualifications:
- Certification: Must hold a valid SLPA certification in accordance with Georgia state regulations.
- Experience: Previous experience working with special education students and their families is highly preferred.
- Skills: In-depth knowledge of speech and language development principles and therapy techniques. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential.
- Adaptability: Ability to adjust therapy techniques to accommodate diverse student needs and various classroom environments.
- Regulations: Compliance with all local and state regulations related to SLPA duties.
