We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our team with a school district in Columbus, GA.As a COTA, you will play a vital role in assisting our students in achieving their maximum potential in their daily activities and enhancing their overall quality of life. This position offers full-time hours,providing ample opportunities to make a positive impact in the lives of students.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Occupational Therapists to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for students based on their needs and goals.
- Conduct therapy sessions and interventions to improve students' motor skills, sensory processing, coordination, and functional abilities.
- Provide assistance and support to students in daily activities such as grooming, dressing, eating, and classroom participation.
- Monitor and document students' progress, maintaining accurate and detailed records.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other members of the education team to ensure consistent and effective therapy integration in the classroom.
- Offer guidance and training to teachers and support staff on strategies to support students' occupational therapy goals.
- Stay updated on current trends and best practices in occupational therapy through ongoing professional development opportunities.
- Advocate for students' needs and collaborate with families to promote continuity of care.
Qualifications:
- Valid certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).
- Experience working with children or adolescents, preferably in a school or pediatric setting.
- Strong knowledge of occupational therapy techniques and interventions.
- Ability to create and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with students, parents, teachers, and other team members effectively.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Current CPR and first aid certification (preferred).
