A school district in Waterford, MI is looking for a School Social Worker for the upcoming 2024 - 2025 school year. The School Social Worker will provide counseling and support services to students, families, and staff to address a variety of social, emotional, and behavioral issues. This role involves working closely with students to help them overcome challenges, develop coping strategies, and achieve their academic and personal goals. The ideal candidate will be compassionate, proactive, and skilled in building strong relationships with students and their families.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to support students dealing with emotional, behavioral, and social challenges.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to develop and implement individualized support plans for students.
- Provide crisis intervention and support to students and families in emergency situations.
- Conduct assessments to identify students needs and develop appropriate intervention strategies.
- Advocate for students needs and facilitate access to community resources and services.
- Implement and oversee programs and workshops on topics such as bullying prevention, stress management, and social skills development.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions, interventions, and progress.
- Participate in school meetings, committees, and professional development activities.

- Caseload: K - 8th grade, about 20 students

Qualifications:
- Master's in Social Work
- Active State SW License or State Counselor License
