This role offers a fantastic opportunity to work closely with students, helping them overcome challenges and achieve success in a supportive educational setting.
Position Overview:
As a School Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in supporting students' development by creating and implementing therapeutic plans that address each student's unique needs. Working within the school district, you will collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to foster a positive learning environment that enhances each student's educational experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine students' occupational therapy needs
- Develop and implement individualized therapy programs tailored to each students strengths and challenges
- Monitor progress and adjust plans as necessary to meet students' evolving needs
- Support students in developing essential fine and gross motor skills, sensory processing abilities, and social-emotional competencies
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and parents to integrate therapy strategies into the classroom environment
- Document therapy sessions and maintain accurate records in compliance with school policies and standards
- Participate in Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings as part of a multidisciplinary team
Position Requirements:
- Licensure: Active Occupational Therapist license in Washington state
- Education: Masters degree in Occupational Therapy
- Experience: Prior experience in a school setting is preferred but not required; new graduates are welcome to apply
- Skills: Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills; an ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and school teams
