Job Description: Sherman Independent School District (ISD) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dyslexia Therapist to join our team and make a meaningful impact on the lives of students. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping students with dyslexia succeed academically and will be trained in effective intervention strategies.
Qualifications:
- Must have certification or training in dyslexia therapy (Take Flight trained preferred).
- Alternate training, such as Mimslec or equivalent programs, will also be considered.
- Valid teaching certification in Texas (if applicable).
- Experience working with students diagnosed with dyslexia is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and staff.
Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized and small group instruction to students with dyslexia using evidence-based strategies.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed to ensure success.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to support student needs.
- Work with parents to provide feedback on student progress and discuss strategies for home support.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience using the Take Flight program or similar dyslexia intervention programs.
- Knowledge of dyslexia-related resources and best practices.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse student needs.
