School Occupational Therapist (OT) ($45-50 hr)
Location: Central Falls, RI
Position: Full-Time, 2024-2025 School Year
Blazerworks has partnered with the Central Falls School District to hire a dedicated and compassionate School Occupational Therapist (OT) for the 2024-2025 school year. As a key member of the educational team, the OT will work with students to support their physical, sensory, and cognitive development, ensuring their success both academically and in everyday activities.
Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group therapy sessions to students with a variety of needs, including sensory processing, motor skills, and daily living tasks.
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and parents to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Conduct thorough assessments to determine students' strengths, needs, and goals.
- Monitor and document students' progress, making adjustments to therapy plans as necessary to meet each childs unique needs.
- Serve as a resource to teachers and staff by offering strategies for classroom accommodations, modifying environments, and providing specialized equipment.
- Assist in creating a positive and inclusive school environment that supports students' development and success.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, contributing insights and recommendations to optimize student outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Valid State of Rhode Island Occupational Therapy License.
- Certification from NBCOT (National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy) preferred.
- Experience working with children, preferably in a school or educational setting.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, teachers, and families.
- Knowledge of IEP development and implementation.
