Job Requirements:
- Must hold a valid Physical Therapist license in North Carolina and meet all state and local requirements to practice in a school setting.
- Experience working with special education students and their families is highly preferred.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Ability to assess, plan, and implement therapy programs for students with diverse needs.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with students, parents, and school staff.
Job Duties:
As a Physical Therapist in a school setting, you will be responsible for providing direct therapy services to students, developing individualized treatment plans, and collaborating with school teams. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting Evaluations: Assessing students' physical abilities, motor skills, posture, strength, and coordination to determine their specific therapy needs.
- Developing Treatment Plans: Creating customized therapy plans based on evaluations, addressing each students individual goals in collaboration with the IEP (Individualized Education Plan) team.
- Providing Direct Therapy: Implementing physical therapy interventions to improve students' strength, coordination, motor skills, balance, and functional mobility.
- Collaboration: Working closely with special education teachers, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and other school professionals to integrate therapy goals into classroom activities.
- Consultation: Communicating regularly with parents and staff about students' progress, needs, and adjustments to therapy plans.
- Monitoring Progress: Tracking the progress of therapy interventions, adjusting goals and treatments as necessary to ensure students continued success.
- Documentation: Maintaining detailed and accurate records of therapy services, progress notes, and assessments required for IEPs and compliance with district guidelines.
- Training & Support: Educating school staff and families about physical therapy techniques and how to support students needs throughout the school day.
