Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our team in Albuquerque, NM. This part-time position offers the opportunity to work with a diverse student population and provide high-quality occupational therapy services in an educational setting. The role is 32 hours per week, with flexibility in scheduling.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluation and Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments to evaluate students fine and gross motor skills, sensory processing, and daily living abilities. Identify and diagnose functional limitations that impact academic performance and overall development.
- Individualized Treatment Plans: Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each students needs. Collaborate with teachers and special education staff to ensure goals align with students' IEPs (Individualized Education Plans).
- Therapeutic Intervention: Provide direct therapy services aimed at improving students motor skills, coordination, sensory integration, and functional independence in daily activities.
- Collaboration: Work closely with classroom teachers, school administrators, and other professionals to develop and implement strategies that support students' success both in and out of the classroom.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of therapy sessions, progress reports, and updates to IEPs. Ensure all services are documented in compliance with school district and state regulations.
- Family Support and Education: Work with families to provide strategies and resources that can be applied at home to support students development and well-being.
Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy (MOT or MSOT) from an accredited program.
- Licensure: Current license to practice as an Occupational Therapist in New Mexico (or eligibility for licensure).
- Experience: Previous experience working in schools or with children is preferred, but new graduates with strong clinical experience will be considered.
- Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong understanding of child development and the ability to assess and treat motor, sensory, and behavioral concerns.
- Familiarity with special education law, IEPs, and 504 plans.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Compassionate & Patient: Demonstrated ability to work with children, especially those with a variety of learning and developmental needs.
