Blazer Jobs is currently seeking an experienced Physical Therapist for a part-time, school-based contract position in Algonquin, IL. We are looking for a Physical Therapist with a passion for working with children, particularly students with special education needs.
This is a part-time contract position, with the potential for renewal based on performance.
Job Description: The Physical Therapist (PT) will work closely with students, teachers, and other healthcare providers to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for students, with a focus on improving motor skills, balance, coordination, and overall physical function. The PT will provide therapy sessions and collaborate with special education teams to ensure students physical needs are met, helping them access their educational environment more effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess students physical abilities and needs through evaluations, including mobility, strength, balance, and coordination.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on students assessments and IEP goals.
- Provide direct therapy to students, implementing exercises, stretches, and therapeutic activities to improve strength, flexibility, balance, and mobility.
- Collaborate with special education teams to ensure physical therapy goals are integrated into students IEPs.
- Monitor student progress, adjusting treatment plans and goals as necessary to maximize effectiveness.
- Provide education and training to school staff and families on how to support students' physical needs and incorporate therapy exercises into daily routines.
- Document therapy sessions, student progress, and any modifications to treatment plans in accordance with district and state requirements.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student progress and adjust plans as needed.
- Advocate for students physical needs to ensure they have the proper accommodations and support in the classroom and throughout the school day.
Qualifications:
- Active Physical Therapist (PT) license in the state of Illinois.
- Experience working with children, particularly those with special education needs, is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of school-based therapy practices, special education laws, and the process of developing and implementing IEPs.
- Ability to develop and carry out individualized therapy plans and assess students progress.
- Excellent communication skills to work effectively with students, parents, teachers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Must meet all local and state regulations for providing physical therapy in a school setting.
