Blazerworks is excited to partner with the Birmingham, AL school district to find a dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) for a full-time position during the 2024-2025 school year. This is a wonderful opportunity to work with students in an inclusive educational environment while providing essential therapeutic services. Position Details:
- Location: Birmingham, AL
- Position: Full-Time COTA
- School Year: 2024-2025
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, standard school hours
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide Therapy Services: Assist students with therapeutic interventions as outlined in their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
- Collaborate with Educational Team: Work closely with the schools Occupational Therapist, teachers, and special education staff to ensure the success of students with diverse learning needs.
- Adapt and Implement Therapy Plans: Help modify activities to meet students physical, mental, and emotional needs, ensuring progress toward therapy goals.
- Support Student Development: Foster students fine motor, sensory, and self-help skills through a variety of therapeutic techniques.
- Conduct Assessments: Assist in assessments of students' abilities, and track progress for ongoing therapy improvements.
- Provide Documentation and Reports: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on student progress and therapy interventions.
Qualifications:
- Certification: Must be a licensed COTA in the state of Alabama.
- Experience: Previous experience in a school-based setting is preferred but not required.
- Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Passion: A strong passion for working with students and a commitment to fostering their success.
