Qualifications
To be considered, applicants must meet all local and state requirements, including:
- A valid Michigan Speech-Language Pathology License
- A Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- Completion of the Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY), if applicable
- Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA (preferred but not required for CF candidates)
- Ability to obtain or hold Michigan Department of Education (MDE) SLP Certification
- Previous experience in a school-based setting is preferred but not required
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments to identify speech and language impairments in students
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with teachers, families, and other professionals
- Provide direct therapy to address speech, language, voice, and fluency issues
- Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals and adjust interventions as needed
- Collaborate with school staff to create a supportive learning environment
- Participate in IEP meetings and provide expertise to guide decision-making
- Stay informed about best practices and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
