Minimum 1+ years Deaf & Hard of Hearing Specialist experience required.
We are seeking a compassionate and qualified DHH Counselor to join our team in Santa Clarita, CA. The ideal candidate will have experience and/or a strong understanding of the unique needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students. The DHH Counselor will provide vital support services, including individual counseling, crisis intervention, and social-emotional development for students within the DHH community.
Qualifications:
To be considered, candidates must meet one of the following criteria:
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
- Licensed Clinical Psychologist
- Licensed Educational Psychologist
- Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential in School Psychology
Preferred Skills:
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students and an understanding of Deaf culture
- Familiarity with educational practices and counseling needs specific to the DHH community
Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counseling for DHH students
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to support students emotional and academic development
- Provide crisis intervention as needed
- Assist in the development of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for DHH students
- Promote social-emotional learning and mental health awareness
- Advocate for DHH students within the school community
