Position Requirements
To be eligible for this role, applicants must meet all local and state requirements, including:
- Hold a valid School Social Worker license or certification in Michigan.
- Possess a Masters degree in Social Work (MSW) or equivalent from an accredited program.
- School Social Work endorsement through MDE
- Fulfill all background checks and clearances as mandated by Michigan law.
- Have experience working with children or adolescents in educational or therapeutic settings.
Key Responsibilities
The selected School Social Worker will be responsible for:
- Providing individual and group counseling to students to address social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
- Collaborating with teachers, administrators, and parents to create supportive learning environments.
- Assessing student needs through interviews, observations, and standardized measures.
- Developing and implementing intervention plans to support academic and personal success.
- Acting as a liaison between the school, families, and community resources.
- Participating in IEP and 504 plan meetings, as required.
- Promoting positive school culture and mental health awareness initiatives.
