As a COTA, you will be instrumental in supporting students with various needs, collaborating closely with occupational therapists, teachers, and families. This role is essential in helping students achieve their educational goals and fostering their independence within the school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Occupational Therapist in evaluating and implementing therapy services for students.
- Implement individualized education program (IEP) goals related to occupational therapy.
- Provide direct therapy services to students, focusing on fine motor skills, self-care, and sensory processing.
- Keep accurate records of student progress and therapy sessions.
- Work with educators to incorporate therapy strategies into daily classroom activities.
- Maintain open communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress.
- Participate in staff meetings and ongoing professional development.
Qualifications:
- Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).
- Valid Pennsylvania drivers license and reliable transportation.
- Experience in a school setting preferred, but not required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
