Blazer Jobs is actively interviewing experienced Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) for full-time roles with school districts in the Glenwood, IL area. We are seeking motivated professionals dedicated to supporting students in achieving their occupational therapy goals and enhancing their overall functional abilities in a school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist licensed Occupational Therapists (OTs) in implementing individualized treatment plans for students with various disabilities and needs
- Conduct therapy sessions focusing on fine motor skills, self-care activities, and adaptive techniques under the supervision of an OT
- Monitor and document student progress and response to interventions, adjusting activities as necessary
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment
- Prepare materials and equipment for therapy sessions, ensuring a safe and organized space
- Participate in team meetings to discuss student progress, treatment plans, and strategies for success
Qualifications:
- Certification: Valid COTA certification in Illinois
- Education: Associates degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
- Experience: Prior experience as a COTA, preferably in a school setting, is highly preferred
- Compliance: Applicants must meet all local and state requirements, including:
- Successful completion of a background check
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications
- Completion of any state-mandated training specific to COTAs
- Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams, and adaptability to meet the needs of various learners
