Minimum 1+ years occupational therapy experience required.
We are seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our team in Marysville, CA for the 2024-2025 school year. As an OT, you will be responsible for providing therapy services to students with diverse needs, including those with physical, sensory, and cognitive challenges. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working in a school setting and a commitment to helping students develop the skills they need to succeed both academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct evaluations to assess students' occupational therapy needs and develop individualized therapy plans.
- Provide direct therapy services to students, focusing on motor skills, sensory processing, self-care skills, and overall academic performance.
- Collaborate with school staff, including teachers, special education staff, and administrators, to ensure therapy goals are integrated into the classroom setting.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), including short-term and long-term therapy goals for students with disabilities.
- Assist students in developing strategies to improve fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and functional independence (e.g., dressing, feeding, handwriting).
- Monitor student progress and adjust therapy plans as necessary, documenting outcomes and maintaining detailed records.
- Provide training and consultation to school staff on classroom modifications, adaptive equipment, and behavioral strategies to support students' functional needs.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and provide recommendations for home-based interventions.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- Current Occupational Therapy licensure in the state of California.
- Previous experience working with children in a school or pediatric setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of IEP development, school-based therapy practices, and behavior management techniques.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
