Blazer Jobs is seeking a dedicated and experienced Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) for a full-time, school-based role in Atchison, KS. This position is perfect for professionals with a background in special education who are passionate about enhancing students' speech and language skills. As an SLPA, you will work under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide crucial support and therapy in a school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Therapy Implementation: Conduct speech and language therapy sessions based on individualized treatment plans developed by the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP).
- Direct Therapy: Provide both individual and group therapy sessions to students, addressing needs such as articulation, fluency, language comprehension, and expressive language.
- Progress Monitoring: Track and document student progress, including collecting data on therapy outcomes and assisting in making necessary adjustments to treatment plans.
- Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, parents, and other school professionals to incorporate speech and language goals into classroom activities and support students overall educational development.
- Assessment Support: Assist the SLP in performing assessments and evaluations to determine students speech and language needs.
- Classroom Integration: Help students apply their speech and language skills in the classroom and other school settings to support their academic and social success.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of therapy sessions, progress reports, and other relevant documentation to ensure compliance and track student progress.
Qualifications:
- Certification: Must hold a valid SLPA certification in accordance with Kansas state regulations.
- Experience: Previous experience working with special education students and their families is highly preferred.
- Skills: Strong understanding of speech and language development principles and therapy techniques. Excellent communication and teamwork skills are essential.
- Adaptability: Ability to adjust therapy techniques to meet diverse student needs and various classroom environments.
- Regulations: Adherence to all local and state regulations related to SLPA responsibilities.
