Blazer Jobs is actively interviewing experienced School Social Workers for a full-time position with school districts in the Opelousas, LA area. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to support students and contribute to their social, emotional, and academic development within the school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide counseling and support services to students dealing with social, emotional, and behavioral issues.
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to address issues such as bullying, family problems, or academic stress.
- Develop and implement intervention plans to support students' mental health and emotional well-being.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to identify student needs and coordinate appropriate services.
- Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify students who may benefit from social work services.
- Provide crisis intervention and support during emergencies.
- Assist students with setting and achieving personal goals, while also promoting self-esteem and positive behavior.
- Advocate for students' needs and connect them with community resources, including mental health services, housing assistance, or food support.
- Attend IEP meetings and work as part of a team to develop and monitor students educational plans.
- Maintain accurate documentation and case notes regarding student progress and interventions.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.
- Valid Louisiana state licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW).
- Previous experience as a school social worker or in a similar role working with children and adolescents in an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of educational and mental health resources for students.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with educators, parents, and other professionals.
- Must meet all state and local background check requirements.
