Requirements:
Applicants must meet all local and state requirements, including:
- Education:
- Bachelors degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders (or related field) from an accredited institution.
- Certification:
- Arkansas State SLPA certification required.
- Experience:
- Previous experience as an SLPA in a school or clinical setting is preferred.
- Background Checks:
- Successful completion of a background check and fingerprinting as required by Arkansas state law.
- Skills:
- Ability to assist licensed speech-language pathologists with assessments and therapy.
- Familiarity with a variety of speech and language disorders and techniques.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with students, teachers, and parents.
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation and treatment plans.
- Compassion and patience to effectively work with students with speech and language challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the implementation of speech therapy programs as directed by the licensed speech-language pathologist.
- Conduct speech and language screenings and assessments under the supervision of an SLP.
- Provide one-on-one and small group therapy sessions to students.
- Maintain detailed records of student progress and therapy sessions.
- Implement treatment plans and track improvements or challenges in student development.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school staff to ensure effective communication and support for students.
- Assist in the development and review of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
- Provide support in classroom settings and during individual therapy sessions.
