Blazer Jobs is actively seeking an experienced and compassionate Occupational Therapist for a full-time, school-based position in Las Cruces, NM. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to make a positive impact in a supportive school district, working closely with students, particularly those with special needs. We are currently interviewing qualified candidates to join our team and assist in enhancing students' educational experiences through therapeutic interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide occupational therapy services, including evaluations, assessments, and treatment plans for students.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other school personnel to integrate therapy goals into classroom activities.
- Work directly with students to develop functional skills, improving their ability to participate in school activities and daily tasks.
- Document therapy services and maintain accurate records of student progress in accordance with state and local regulations.
- Conduct screenings, evaluations, and re-evaluations as needed to track student progress and determine the effectiveness of interventions.
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and team meetings to ensure coordinated services for students.
- Educate staff and families about strategies to enhance students' functional abilities and independence in daily school routines.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid Occupational Therapist (OT) license in New Mexico, in accordance with state regulations.
- Prior experience working with special education students is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of IEP development and special education regulations.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including teachers, families, and other support staff.
- Excellent communication skills and a compassionate, student-centered approach.
- Passion for working with children and supporting their growth and success in the educational environment.
